Exchange Programs

It should be noted that volunteerism always go with experience sharing. It is for this reason that CAMYOSFOP also adopted the concept of exchange program as one of its programs. Exchange programs gives different perspectives on the way the participating youths see things and as such changes their horizons and way of thinking and doing things. The concept is that of organizing exchange programs within Cameroon with other youth organizations, within Africa and with the countries of other continents including America, Europe and Asia. The programs are organized with a focus on a particular theme on youth development.

The very first Exchange program organized by CAMYOSFOP in partnership with the Global Youth Partnership for Africa (GYPA) based in Washington DC took place from June 10 – 26, 2007. The program dubbed, the US/Cameroon Youth Immersion on Youth Development and the Millennium Development Goals, brought together 13 American students from diverse American Universities to Cameroon to hold talks, seminars and visited 5 out of the 10 regions of Cameroon. In November 7 – 15, 2008 the return trip of this exchange program took place in Washington DC with the participation of 6 Cameroonian youth that held meetings with the World Bank, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), Search for Common Ground and the Embassy of Cameroon amongst others.

CAMYOSFOP is presently working with Ideal Media in the UK to kick start the Cameroon/UK Exchange program. In the meantime, a lot has already been accomplished with the African Diaspora in the US for the first Cameroon/Diaspora Exchange program that has been planned for the summer of 2016. Watch out for this program.
